Colette Prevost – Over 30 Years Experience in Social Services
When it comes to fighting for children's rights, gender equity, cultural diversity, or women's leadership, Colette Prevost is a well-known name in Canada. She has been working in these fields and protecting people’s rights for a long time. Today, she is considered a leader in the administration of social services in Ontario.
She has worked with many non‐profit organizations in the areas of policy development, board governance, and staff training. In addition, she provides consultation services on organizational restructuring and leadership. She specializes in equity, gender and human rights. Colette Prevost has vast experience working with non-profit organizations. She has been working for a long time to develop and manage social services and mental health services. From direct intervention, advocacy, and administration to coalition building, she has worked in every field and garnered results.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in social work in 1987 from Laurentian University and her master’s degree in social work from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1988. She also has a certificate of completion of Rotman School of Business in Leadership.
Laurentian University honored Colette Prevost for her contribution to advancing the interests of women in the community. In addition, she received an honorary eagle feather by the First Nations of Territory 3 in Ontario. She has been teaching at Laurentian university for the last 30 years as sessional faculty. She teaches within the faculty of social work. Furthermore, she has offered courses in clinical social work, leadership and administration. She has also served as sessional faculty member for Nipissing University.
She has previously served as the Executive Director at YWCA Sudbury. She is currently engaged with Laurentian University in Sudbury, where she teaches leadership and administration. Colette Prevost is known for her dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to improve the situations related to the care and protection of children and youth in the community. And, she is determined to continue her work for children and women in the community.
