Colette Prevost – Why Is She A Big Name In Social Service?
When it comes to social services, Colette Prevost is a well-known name in Canada. She has over 30 years of experience in the field of social services. Be it fighting for children’s rights, women leadership or gender equity, she has been working for people’s rights for a long time. A social worker by training, Colette Prevost has worked in Northern Ontario in the development and management of social services and mental health services.
Colette Prevost has a Bachelor and a Master of Social Work degree. She also has a certificate of completion of Rotman School of Business in Leadership. In addition, she is honored by Laurentian University for her contribution to advancing the interests of women in the community and has also received an honorary eagle feather by the First Nations of Territory 3 in Ontario.
Colette Prevost has worked for a number of non-profit organizations in the field of policy development, board governance, and staff training. She also offers consultation services on organizational restructuring and leadership. Apart from managing social services and mental health services, she has worked in other different fields including advocacy, direct intervention, administration, and coalition building.
Colette worked as a Director at Mental Health/Addictions Centre Nipissing General Hospital where she administered mental health and addiction programs. She successfully advanced the francophone community’s rural mental health strategy during her tenure. She also served as an active member of the Hospital Senior Management Team.
Because of the excellent leadership qualities, Colette is one of the established leaders in the Child Welfare Sector. She is a strong supporter of YWCA Canada in their vision of empowered women and girls in a safe and equitable society. She is determined to work to empower women and help children with their rights in the community.
